Sea Trucks Clinches Offshore Job at Russian Far East

Sea Trucks Group has received a contract from Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering, a leading global offshore services company, for the provision of an accommodation vessel for the Arkutun-Dagi field operated by Exxon Neftegas Limited, offshore Sakhalin, Russia.

Sea Truck’s Jascon 25 vessel will be used for the project, which is expected to start in Q2 2014 for a duration of 120 days, with options to extend the contract up to 90 days. The capacity of the vessel will be increased with modular accommodation units to accommodate up to 595 people on board.

Jacques J. Roomans, President & CEO said: “We are delighted to win this contract which reflects the confidence our customers have in our assets and our people. We look forward to working on this project, which gives us the opportunity to obtain unique experience of operating in new challenging geographies.”

Arkutun Dagi

As with Sakhalin-1’s Chayvo and Odoptu fields, development of the Arkutun-Dagi field will be carried out in phases; the first of which is planned to start in the northernmost portion of the field in 2014.
The Arkutun-Dagi development will employ an offshore, ice-resistant fixed platform which is expected to become the largest oil and gas production platform in Russia. This gravity-based structure has been named Berkut – from the Russian for golden eagle.
The Berkut platform will become the first ExxonMobil operated platform with friction pendulum bearing isolators to make it more seismically stable. Its topsides will be among the largest in the industry, weighing about 28,000 tons. The Arkutun-Dagi field development (along with Odoptu) will help maintain Sakhalin-1 production as the Chayvo field production naturally declines. First oil is expected to be produced there in 2014.
