Seabed Geosolutions scores OBN contract off West Africa

Seabed Geosolutions, a joint venture between Fugro and CGG, has secured a 4D baseline ocean bottom node (OBN) project offshore West Africa.

The company said last Friday that the contract would last for with six weeks and that the crew is currently in the mobilization phase of the project.

According to Seabed Geosolutions, the project will support the optimization of the recovery rate during the development and production phases of oil and gas fields by providing data on hydrocarbon prospects, reservoir characteristics, and potential geohazards.

The company’s ocean bottom node system is designed to meet the demands of all survey configurations. The OBN system is designed to provide an alternative to a wide-azimuth (WAZ) streamer survey.

OBN systems can work in depths of up to 3,000 meters of water and can be used during dense source grid, full-azimuth, and long-offset surveys.

In related news, Seabed Geosolutions recently secured a new extension to its ongoing shallow water operations in the U.A.E. valued at around $60 million. This extension will see the company enter its 4th year of continuous operations for ADNOC in the U.A.E., having previously completed the Hail, Shuweihat, and Ghasha Phase-I surveys.
