Siemens pens five-year deal with BP for upstream projects

Oil major BP has signed a five-year global frame agreement with Germany’s Siemens.

Siemens said earlier this week that the company would support BP for future upstream projects as one of the main electrical contractors (MEC) for its onshore and offshore global upstream projects.

This allows BP access to Siemens technology, including the company’s digitization services with the goal of further developing environmentally friendly and safe operations.

Siemens will provide design and engineering services utilizing BP’s internet of things supported integrated engineering tools and components that are adapted to work together in a total solution.

In addition, to design and engineering services, Siemens will assume full responsibility for procurement and supply, installation support, project management and commissioning support for electrical distribution systems on BP projects that may be awarded to Siemens under the agreement.
