SOCAR Continues Bulla-Deniz Field Cleaning Ops, Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan’s national oil company Socar has informed that works on rectifying the consequences of the accident that took place at platform #90 the Bulla-Deniz field were continued on September 3.

Experts of SOCAR and the US Halliburton’s “BOOTS & COOTS” response group inspected the well mouth at the platform. The specialists took measurements using special measuring devices and by estimations, some 2.5 -3 million cubic meters of gas is burned.

Specialists of SOCAR and ”Boots & COOTS” held consultations on liquidating gas flaring at the well and defined the sequence of the work to be done. For this purpose, preparation works are underway on Gurban Abbasov crane vessel. Once the preparation works are done, the complete liquidation of fire burning at the well will be launched.

The incident on the Bulla Deniz gas field, located near the Bulla Island in the Bay of Baku, Caspian Sea, took place during drilling operations at the No 90 exploration well.
