Songa Mercur rig worker sees Malaysian jet crash?

An offshore worker has reportedly seen the missing Malaysia Airlines jet MH370 come down.

According to the Andrew Drummond website, the worker named Michael J McKay sent an e-mail claiming to have seen the plane crash into the sea offshore Vietnam.

In the e-mail McKay claims he saw the burning aircraft from the Songa Mercur semi-submersible offshore drilling rig, currently moored in the Vietnamese waters.  The rig is owned by the international drilling contractor Songa Offshore, and is on a contract with for Idemitsu.

To remind,  the Boeing 777 and its 239 passengers went missing on Friday, March 8, while on a routine flight from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing.

Separately, in its online newspaper, Vietnam government says it is maintaining its search for the missing Malaysian aircraft, with the search area extending both to the east of the plane’s last-known location and to remote areas on the mainland. This was announced today by deputy chief of the General Staff of Vietnam People’s Army, Lieut. Gen Vo Van Tuan. Thirteen countries taking part in the search have dispatched 22 aircraft and 31 vessels, including eight planes and nine ships from Vietnam, the government’s newspaper said.
