Statoil to Use ‘Regalia’ at Grane Field

Statoil has received consent to use the Regalia mobile accommodation rig at Grane field in the North Sea in connection with modification and maintenance activities.

The Grane field is in block 25/11 in the central section of the Norwegian part of the North Sea. The field has been developed using an integrated facility on a fixed steel jacket. Production on the field began in September 2003.

Statoil, the field’s operator, is planning a series of modification and maintenance activities that will result in high levels of activity during some of 2014 and has applied to use the Regalia mobile accommodation facility to meet the extra accommodation needs between 15 February and 31 August 2014.

Regalia is a semi-submersible facility of the GVA 3000 type, built in Gothenburg in 1985 and upgraded in 2009. It was issued with an Acknowledgement of Compliance (AOC) by the PSA in July 2009. The facility is operated by Prosafe Offshore Ltd of Scotland. Regalia has cabin space for up to 282 people. It is registered in Singapore and classified by Lloyds.

“We have now granted Statoil consent to use the facility in conformity with the application,” said the Petroleum Safety Authority Norway in a statement issued today.
