Statoil has received consent from the Petroleum Safety Authority (PSA) Norway to use Scarabeo 5 rig for permanent plugging of well 6506/11-N-4 H on the Kristin field in the Norwegian Sea.

According to the PSA, Statoil has allocated up to 27 days for the activity, which will start in mid-May 2015. Water depth at the site is 367 metres.

Scarabeo 5 is a type ME 4500 semi-submersible drilling rig and it was built at the Fincantieri Shipyard in Genoa, Italy in 1990.

It is operated by Saipem Norwegian Branch (Saipem). The rig is registered in the Bahamas and classified by ABS.
