Subsea engineering company Subsea 7 has appointed a new senior independent director and made changes to responsibilities within the board of directors.

Subsea 7 said on Tuesday that Allen Stevens was appointed as the new senior independent director and would serve as the chairman of the Corporate Governance and Nomination Committee.

According to the company, Stevens brings to the role many years of experience in shipping, finance, and management. He started in the shipping industry in financial planning at Sea-Land Service and subsequently served as treasurer of McLean Industries from 1972 to 1988.

He served as a chairman and director of Erie Shipbuilding from 2006 to 2009, and the chairman of Trailer Bridge from 2008 until 2012. Stevens also held senior executive and management positions with Great Lakes Transport Limited.

In addition, Subsea 7 made two changes to responsibilities within the board. Namely, David Mullen will serve as a member of the Corporate Governance and Nomination Committee while Niels Kirk will serve as a member of the Compensation Committee.

The company added that all other responsibilities would remain unchanged and that the updates to the board were approved at the annual general meeting held on April 17, 2017.
