Swire Focuses on Expanding Business in Asia Pacific

Swire Oilfield Services, a global supplier of cargo carrying solutions, modular systems, offshore aviation services and fluid management, has invested millions of dollars in the Asia Pacific region during the past two years.

The company’s success and commitment in the region has been demonstrated in South East Asia through securing six new long-term contracts, establishing an office in Kuala Lumpur, new supply bases in Malaysia and an additional supply base in Maura, Brunei, complementing the established presence to the south in Kuala Belait, all in less than a year since the establishment of its new regional headquarters in Singapore. In addition, the company has expanded its Australasian operation and is completing construction of new operational support facilities in Karratha, Australia.

As a result of its growth and investment in this key strategic hub for the oil and gas industry, Swire Oilfield Services has also doubled its sales and operations support team in South East Asia and has more than 750 employees worldwide.

Globally, the company has increased its fleet size by 65% in the last five years and has in excess of 150 standard unit designs, more than 57,000 cargo carrying units and supports the world’s largest fleet of DNV 2.7-1 and EN 12079 rated equipment.

In line with the overall expansion of Swire Oilfield Services, the company has also recently opened its global headquarters in Aberdeen, Scotland as part of an $80million (£50million) investment for the company this year, supporting its international business development strategy.

Troy Brice, Asia Pacific Regional General Manager for Swire Oilfield Services, said: “We have been operating in the region since 2010 and we now have the largest range of equipment in the region supporting our growing customer list, making us the largest operator. We have established a regional engineering team, based in Singapore, which has strengthened our offering. This team will be key to the success of our new long-term contracts, which include India and Sakhalin.

“Since the establishment of our Asia Pacific regional headquarters in Singapore in January 2012, we are looking to double turnover in the region in the next two years. We are focused on being reliably dynamic with a strong commitment to providing reliable equipment and true customer service to Asia Pacific and beyond.”
