Talk directly to employers at Scottish Energy Careers Festival

Ambitious professionals are being given a golden opportunity to land a plum job in Scotland’s booming – and best paid – career sector, a Scottish recruitment company s1jobs says.

The Scottish Energy Careers Festival – presented by s1jobs – aims to help skilled employees, particularly in IT and engineering, connect with some of the foremost employers in Scotland’s flourishing Oil & Gas and Energy sector.

In a rare move, s1jobs are also offering to organise one to one meetings with hiring managers for professionals who are looking for an exciting and fulfilling career move.

A high quality collection of influential Oil & Gas and Energy employers are to take part in the Glasgow-based event, including Doosan Babcock, National Oilwell Varco, Oil States and Saudi Aramco.

Recent research by s1jobs showed that non-management roles in the oil and gas sector earned the highest average wages in Scotland in 2014 – sitting at £47,168.

Billy Girvan, Partnership Manager at s1jobs, has encouraged applicants not to miss the landmark event.

He said: “A considerable amount of planning has gone into ensuring the Scottish Energy Careers Festival will provide a wealth of industry insight.

“We have spent a lot of time visiting other events and collecting feedback from exhibitors and professionals – allowing us to create a careers festival that is truly relevant to people planning a job or career move.

“Scotland’s growing Oil & Gas and Energy sectors are increasingly in need of skilled and qualified professionals, particularly in the IT and engineering sectors. We are encouraging anyone looking for a career in the most exciting employment sector in Scotland to come along.

“We also wanted to show that the Oil & Gas and Energy Sector is nationwide, not just centralised in Aberdeen.

“By showcasing the event in Glasgow we want to discover professionals from all over the country with a passion for a career within the Energy sector.”

Paul Motion, Recruitment Programme Manager at Doosan Babcock, is enthusiastic about the event – and is delighted to be able to engage prospective job candidates.

He said: “Doosan Babcock are a leading UK provider of engineering, manufacturing, construction and asset management services. In July 2014 we announced the creation of almost 400 jobs as we invest £4.5m in the launch of a new Process Engineering Centre here in Scotland.

“It’s an exciting time here at Doosan Babcock and we have ambitious plans to expand our process business on the world stage. As part of this continued and anticipated growth, we believe the s1jobs Energy Careers Festival will allow us to engage with delegates who possess the skill set and specialist knowledge our projects require.

“s1jobs.com is a platform Doosan Babcock has used for a number of years and we are delighted to be part of this innovative careers event.”

Further support for the event has also come from Paul Leishman, Director at Escape Recruitment Service.

He said: “We are delighted to be supporting s1jobs with their first Energy Careers Festival.

“This event will give candidates the opportunity to talk directly with employers and ourselves to discuss their career aspirations in an extremely buoyant market place. I am sure it will benefit all of those involved.”

The Scottish Energy Careers Festival takes place on Wednesday 17th September between 11am and 8pm at Glasgow’s newest conference and events venue, 200 SVS, on 200 St. Vincent Street.

s1jobs says that interested people should make sure they visit the official Scottish Energy Careers Festival page, where they can register their interest in attending.
