Telford vessel gets new gig off Mexico

Offshore services provider Telford Offshore has been awarded a topsides, subsea and accommodation support services contract from Protexa for its DP3 multi-purpose offshore construction vessel, Telford 31.

Mobilization in the Bay of Campeche, Mexico, took place in early May 2018, the company said on Monday.

The shallow water project, around 40-70m water depth, calls for using Telford 31 at Kab-C, PB-Litoral-T, PP-Maloob-B and D platforms located in Pemex’s Litoral de Tabasco and Ku-Maloob-Zaap oilfields in the Gulf of Mexico.

The contract started in early May 2018 and will extend until October 2018. Around 300 people will be accommodated onboard over the course of the project.

Telford 31 is one of the Telford Offshore’s DP3 fleet of accommodation and construction vessels. It is equipped with a 400t heave compensated main crane, a heave compensated gangway and 1300m2 of unobstructed deck space. The vessel features accommodation for 469 persons.

Ku-Maloob-Zaap (KMZ) is today the most productive oil field in Mexico, made up of three large fields, Ku, Maloob and Zaap. They are located to the immediate northwest of the Cantarell field in the Bay of Campeche, 105km (65mi) from Ciudad del Carmen. Field production started in 1981.

It is worth reminding that Telford officially launched as a company last February after acquiring four DP3 multi-purpose offshore construction vessels from Sea Trucks Group following its liquidation.
