Greenpeace: 30 Activists Charged with Piracy in Russia

A further 15 Greenpeace International activists and a Russian freelance photographer were charged with piracy in Murmansk, over a protest against Gazprom’s Arctic offshore drilling plans.

ConocoPhillips Alaska has announced that in mid-September, using the Insitu Inc. ScanEagle® Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV), the company completed the first approved commercial use of  an Unmanned Airborne System (UAS) in the United States.

 

Keppel, Pemex to Set Up Rig Construction Yard in Mexico

Keppel Offshore & Marine (Keppel O&M) has strengthened its foothold in the offshore and marine industry in Mexico with the signing of an MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) with PEMEX Exploracion y Produccion (PEP) and P.M.I. Norteamérica, S.A. de C.V. (PMI), both subsidiaries of Mexico’s national oil company, Petroleos Mexicanos (PEMEX).

 

Northern Offshore Orders Two LeTourneau Super 116E Rigs

Northern Offshore, Ltd.  has executed contracts for the construction of two LeTourneau Super 116E Class jackup drilling rigs, with a priced option for the construction of two additional rigs of the same design.

 

CIMB: Keppel, Sembarine Could Win $3.6bn in Jack-Up Rig Orders in 2014

CIMB Research has announced that high utilisation and day rates will continue to boost jack-up rigs orders. Keppel and Sembmarine can snatch up to US$3.6bn worth of contracts in 2014 as PEMEX and Transocean are launching tenders for 10 units of jack-up rigs each, for delivery in 2017-20.
