Transocean Chief of Staff Resigns

Transocean Ltd, a Switzerland-based offshore drilling contractor, has announced that Ihab Toma notified the company of his resignation as Executive Vice President, Chief of Staff effective December 31, 2013.

With Toma’s departure, the position of Chief of Staff will be eliminated and responsibilities redistributed. Effective immediately, the company’s Board of Directors has designated the Chief Executive Officer, Steven L. Newman; the Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, Esa Ikaheimonen; and the Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, John Stobart; as the members of the company’s executive management team pursuant to the company’s organizational regulations.

Toma was responsible for Human Resources, Global Supply Chain, Information Technology, Marketing and Asset Divestitures.

Before being named Chief of Staff in October 2012, Toma served as Executive Vice President, Operations, since August 2011 and previously as Executive Vice President, Global Business, and Senior Vice President of Marketing and Planning.

Before joining Transocean in 2009,  Toma served in different capacities in Schlumberger, including product line President and various other oilfield services assignments with regional and global responsibilities in France, the United States, Norway, Italy, Nigeria, Algeria, Indonesia and Egypt.

He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Cairo University where he graduated in 1985.
