Transocean scores contracts for drilling rig trio

Offshore drilling contractor Transocean Ltd has secured new rig contracts worth roughly $115 million.

Since its last fleet status update issued on August 21, 2014, the company has secured a contract extension for its Transocean Honor jack-up rig with Chevron in Angola.

The high specification jack-up rig will continue to work for Chevron, but on an increased dayrate if$194,000 compared with its previous rate of $155,000 per day. According to the Transocean rig classification, a high-spec jack-up rig is a rig that  is able to drill in water depths of 400 feet.

One well contracts for semi duo 

Furthermore, the drilling contractor has secured one-well contracts for its Jack Bates and M.G. Hulme, Jr. semi-submersible drilling rigs.

‘Jack Bates’ has been awarded a one-well contract in an undisclosed location at a dayrate of $440,000, an increase from its previous rate of $380.000 per day. Following the completion of the contract, the rig will in October begin its contract in Australia with the Japanese oil company Inpex.

As for the M.G. Hulme, Jr., it has been awarded a one-well contract in an undisclosed location at a dayrate of $200,000. The rig was previously idle.
