Tullow spuds Zumba well

The exploration drilling on the Zumba prospect in production licence 591 in the Norwegian Sea started yesterday, May 27, 2015.

The prospect is located on the Haltenbanken in the Norwegian Sea, approximately 14 km southeast of the Heidrun field. The well 6507/11-11 is being drilled by the Leiv Eiriksson rig to a total depth of 3000 metres.

According to North Energy, a partner in the licence, the total drilling operation is estimated to be completed in 60 days. The company noted that the objective of the well is to detect hydrocarbons in the upper Jurassic sandstones.

Partners in the licence are Tullow Oil Norge AS (operator with 60 per cent), Lime Petroleum Norway AS (25 per cent) and North Energy ASA (15 per cent).

Tullow received consent for drilling from the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate to drill the well 6507/11-11 in Zumba prospect on May 13, 2015.
