Two Workers Killed, One Injured in Platform Accident Off Den Helder (The Netherlands)

Two workers have died and one has been seriously wounded in an accident that occurred today onboard the GDF Suez-operated gas platform, off the coast of the Netherlands.

According to Den Helder Actueel, the news was first reported by the Coast Guard centre in Den Helder.

The platform L5FA1, located 100 km offshore Den Helder, was out of production at the time of the incident, the Den Helder-based news portal has reported.

The injured worker was taken by a helicopter to the Leeuwarden medical center and is now in a stable condition. The exact circumstances of what happened are unclear.

GDF Suez did not immediately respond to an e-mail seeking comment, sent by Offshore Energy Today.
