U.S. Offshore rig count on the rise

U.S. Offshore rig count has increased from the previous week, according to the latest Baker Hughes Weekly Rig Count reports.


BHI Rig Count: U.S. – 6 to 1854 rigs

U.S. Rig Count is down 6 rigs from last week to 1854, with oil rigs up 6 to 1542, gas rigs down 10 to 310, and miscellaneous rigs down 2 at 2.

U.S. Rig Count is up 83 rigs from last year at 1771, with oil rigs up 129, gas rigs down 43, and miscellaneous rigs down 3.
The U.S. Offshore rig count is 59, up 1 rig from last week, and up 5 rigs year over year.
BHI Rig Count: Canada + 30 to 244 rigs

Canadian Rig Count is up 30 rigs from last week to 244, with oil rigs up 27 to 149, and gas rigs up 3 to 95.

Canadian Rig Count is up 68 rigs from last year at 176, with oil rigs up 23, and gas rigs up 45.

The Baker Hughes Rotary Rig Counts are counts of the number of drilling rigs actively exploring for or developing oil or natural gas in the United States, Canada and international markets. Baker Hughes has issued the rotary rig counts as a service to the petroleum industry since 1944, when Hughes Tool Company began weekly counts of US and Canadian drilling activity. Baker Hughes initiated the monthly international rig count in 1975.
