UNEPCOM endorses Rosneft’s Arctic research initiative

The Russian National Committee for UNEP (UNEPCOM) endorsed the initiative of Rosneft and the Russian Geographical Society to elaborate interdisciplinary scientific program for comprehensive Arctic research.

This initiative was first announced during the round-table called “The scientific exploration of the Arctic” on July 21, 2014. The round-table was held at the Arctic Research and Design Center (a joint venture of Rosneft and ExxonMobil) center. These scientists made significant contributions to the development of oceanography, geology, glaciology, ecology, biology of the seas, climatology and meteorology, Rosneft says.
