Fast-growing global inspection, repair, maintenance (IRM) and light construction company Harkand has made a key appointment by securing industry veteran Mike Brown as general manager of diving services in North America.
A past president of the Association of Diving Contractors International (ADCI), Brown is currently serving as co-vice-chairman of the International Association of Oil & Gas Producers Commercial Diving sub-committee, and is the offshore diving representative for the National Offshore Safety Advisory Committee (NOSAC) in US.
Based in Houston, he will be responsible for development of Harkand’s diving services in the North America region.
Chief executive officer John Reed said: “Mike’s proven track record within the sector makes him a valuable addition to our organisation. I am delighted he has agreed to join our team in North America and expand our diving services in the region. His in-depth knowledge of the market will strengthen our ability to respond to the needs of our North American clients.”
Brown holds diving certification from the Coastal School of Deep Sea Diving, California, and Executive Management credentials from Booth University, Chicago.

Employing 1,000 people at bases in Aberdeen and London in the UK, Sharjah in the Middle East, Singapore and Perth in Asia Pacific and Houston in the USA, the company aims to grow turnover to USD 1 billion in the next four years.
