Valemon topside reaches Norway after 11.500-mile journey (VIDEO)

The topside to be installed at the Statoil-operated Valemon field in the Norwegian North Sea, has reached Norway after a long journey from the Far East.

On Saturday 26 June 2014 the Valemon topside arrived Åmøyfjorden near Stavanger, Norway for a quick stop, after the 40 day long trip from South Korea.

Now it is on its way to the Valemon field in the North Sea, where the heavy lift will be performed early this week, weather permitting.

The Valemon topside left the Samsung yard in Geoje in South Korea on Sunday June 15 on board of the transport vessel Dockwise Triumph. The ship travelled 11,500 nautical miles from South Korea to Norway.

The Valemon field is expected to come on stream late 2014. The topside will be installed in the North Sea by the heavy lift vessel Saipem 7000.

The Valemon field is located west of Bergen, approximately 12 km west of the Kvitebjørn installation. The Valemon development is currently one of the largest industrial projects in Norway.

The recoverable reserves are estimated at 206 million barrels of oil equivalents – including 26 billion cubic metres of gas, five million cubic metres of condensate and one million cubic metres of natural gas liquids (NGL).
