Oilfield services provider TechnipFMC has recently completed transpooling flexible umbilicals for Total’s Egina project from one of its facilities in France.
The company on Thursday released a video showing how the project came together.
According to Paulo De Oliveira, TechnipFMC’s project manager, the aim of the project was to design and supply two 18.5 inch flexible pipes, as well as all equipment enabling the connection between the FPSO vessel and the offloading buoy, and a large quantity of buoyancy modules. These pipes will enable the oil offloading between the FPSO vessel and the offloading buoy.
The transpooling operations of these flexible pipes were carried out at a facility in Le Trait.
The Egina FPSO, operated by Total, is 330 meters in length, 61 meters across and 34 meters high, with a storage capacity of 2.3 million barrels of oil. Built by South Korea’s shipbuilder Samsung Heavy, the FPSO left the yard and headed to Nigeria at the end of October. According to the latest AIS data, it is expected to reach Nigeria at the end of January 2018.
Once it gets there, the remaining topside module integration and commissioning of the FPSO will take place. Following completion, the FPSO will be moored at the Total-operated Egina oil field, located some 130 km off the coast of Nigeria at water depths of more than 1,500 meters.
Apart from the FPSO, the infrastructure on the field will consist of an oil offloading terminal, and subsea production systems that will include 52 kilometers of oil and water injection flowlines, 12 flexible jumpers, 20 kilometers of gas export pipelines, 80 kilometers of umbilicals, and subsea manifolds.
TechnipFMC provides project management, engineering, procurement, and construction for Egina’s entire Subsea Production System (SPS) scope. The company in October installed six manifold modules at the Egina field located offshore Nigeria within OML 130.
