Wood Group welcomes new board member

Aberdeen-based oil and gas services company Wood Group will have a new non-executive director as of May 12, 2016.

Apart from joining the company as a non-executive director, Wood Group said that Richard Howson would also join the board’s nomination and safety, assurance & business ethics committees.

Howson has been chief executive of Carillion, a management and construction services company, since January 1, 2012.

He served as the chief operating officer from September 2010 to December 31, 2011, having been appointed to the board in December 2009 as executive director with responsibility for the Middle East, North Africa and UK Construction businesses and for the Group’s Health & Safety and Sustainability programs. Howson is a Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers.

Ian Marchant, Wood Group chairman, said: “I am delighted to welcome Richard to the Board. His extensive experience as Chief Executive of an international contracting business will further strengthen the Board and provide valuable support and guidance to the Group’s Executive leadership team.”
