Wood Group’s new executive changes linked to Amec Foster Wheeler buy

UK-based energy services company Wood Group has made two changes to its executive leadership team.

Wood Group said on Wednesday that Andrew Stewart was appointed the chief executive officer (CEO) of the Asset Life Cycle Solutions (ALCS) business in the Western region while Michele McNichol was named as executive president of integration, both effective immediately.

McNichol was the CEO of ALCS in the Western region and is succeeded by Stewart who was most recently president of the Construction, Maintenance & Operations (CMO) business, which provides a majority of the business activity in the region. He previously led Wood Group’s brownfield production services operations in Australia and Asia Pacific.

The company said that after the its proposed acquisition of Amec Foster Wheeler in March, McNichol was chosen to lead the global integration of that business. Apart from her ALCS CEO position, she was the CEO of Wood Group Mustang.

To remind, Amec Foster Wheeler and Wood group agreed in mid-March the terms of a recommended all-share offer by Wood Group to acquire the entire issued and to be issued share capital of AFW for $2.7 billion.

Regarding the appointments, Wood Group CEO Robin Watson said: “Since announcing the proposed acquisition of AFW, the largest Wood Group has undertaken, we have begun thinking about the structure of our business to best serve our customers.

“Although the potential acquisition still requires regulatory and shareholder approval, there is already much work to be done in relation to integration planning.

“Michele’s insightful leadership and knowledge of the business will be key to a successful integration post-completion and to the future success of Wood Group. Andrew’s knowledge of Wood Group’s global business and best practices will help drive our strategy for ALCS across the Americas.”
